So, now that The Girl is 10, she has a couple of chores. One of these chores is loading and unloading the dishwasher when it's due. Her dad has generally been in charge of this, so they usually do it together. This is mostly so that he can help guide her on how to most efficiently load it. Left to her own devices, she'd probably only fit a couple of plates, a pot and 4 glasses in there.
The other day, they were working on loading up the lower rack. He was putting in the silverware, she was arranging the plates. As she is arranging, she looks at her dad and says,
"We're gonna build a wall between the dishes and the silverware. And we're going to make the silverware pay for it."
I have this kid. Sometimes she's silly. Sometimes she's crabby. Usually she's awesome.

June 30, 2016: Hamilton
We've discovered Hamilton, in all of its musical glory.
The Girl, though, is not interested. It's not because she doesn't like music, she loves it, it's because we tried to introduce it to her. She's at that "ugh, mom and dad are such squares" stage of tweendom.
However, she can't help but hear us playing it around her.
The Girl (standing in front of the freezer): I'm just like my country: I'm young, hungry and hungry.
Me: It's young, scrappy and hungry.
The Girl: Meh, I just want ice cream.
